Zambia Poised for Tourism Boost with Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp Investment

By John Chola

In a development set to bolster Zambia’s growing tourism sector, global hospitality group Minor Hotels has announced plans to open the Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp within the next seven months.

This high-end property, situated within Kafue National Park, will join the company’s prestigious Anantara portfolio and represents a significant investment in Zambia’s tourism and hospitality industry.

The Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp will become the second property under the Anantara brand in Zambia, alongside the Avani Victoria Falls Resort, which has long been a draw for visitors to the iconic Victoria Falls.

The new camp aims to leverage Zambia’s untapped potential as a prime destination for eco-tourism and luxury safari experiences.

A Transformative Step for Zambia’s Hospitality Sector

The establishment of the Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp is anticipated to create jobs, stimulate local businesses, and increase the country’s appeal to international travelers seeking unique experiences.

With Kafue National Park being one of the largest and most biodiverse protected areas in Africa, the camp’s strategic location promises to attract high-end tourists eager to explore the area’s stunning landscapes and wildlife.

According to Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels, the company’s expansion reflects its commitment to delivering world-class hospitality in Africa’s most distinctive locations.

“We are excited to deepen our footprint in Zambia, a country with immense potential as a travel destination.

By blending luxury with sustainable tourism practices, we hope to contribute meaningfully to Zambia’s tourism growth while offering unparalleled experiences to our guests,” Rajakarier said.

Luxury Meets Sustainability

The Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp will feature eco-friendly tented accommodations designed to harmonize with the natural environment. Guests can expect world-class amenities, including gourmet dining, bespoke safari excursions, and opportunities to engage with local conservation initiatives.

The camp aims to showcase Zambia’s unique culture and natural heritage while promoting sustainable tourism practices.

This development comes alongside Minor Hotels’ latest project in Zimbabwe, the Anantara Stanley & Livingstone Victoria Falls Hotel, which opens this week.

The twin investments reflect Minor Hotels’ strategy to capitalize on Southern Africa’s tourism assets, further solidifying the region as a global tourism hotspot.

Zambia’s Growing Role in Regional Tourism

Zambia stands to benefit significantly from these high-profile investments.

With increased global visibility and enhanced infrastructure, the country’s tourism sector could see substantial growth, drawing in more international visitors and strengthening its economic impact.

The Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp, in particular, is expected to position Zambia as a leading destination for luxury safari experiences, complementing its already renowned status as home to Victoria Falls.

By partnering with local stakeholders and integrating sustainability into its operations, Minor Hotels’ latest venture aligns with Zambia’s broader tourism goals of preserving natural resources while boosting economic development.

As anticipation builds for the Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp’s opening, Zambia’s hospitality sector prepares for a transformative chapter, with this investment promising to leave a lasting legacy for both travelers and local communities.
