LUSAKA GDP HITS K80BN

(ZNBC)-The Gross Domestic Product -GDP- for Lusaka City has increased to 80 billion Kwacha following the booming of key businesses such as wholesale and retail trade.

This is as opposed to the 49 billion kwacha recorded in 2016.

According to the Lusaka City GDP Report released by the Zambia Statistics Agency -ZAMSTATS- today, the capital city now accounts for a quarter of the country’s national GDP.

The report states that in percentage term, Lusaka City represents 24.2 percent of the national GDP.

And United Nations Economic Commission for Africa local consultant LITIA SIMBANGALA says there is need to create more avenues for industries to flourish.

Meanwhile, University of Zambia Economics Lecturer MASHEKWA MABOSHE says there is need to translate the growth of Lusaka ‘s GDP into people’s daily lives.
