The number of districts affected by Cholera has risen to five after new cases were recorded in Nchelenge District of Luapula Province and Chipangali in Eastern Province.
Health Minister SYLVIA MASEBO says one death was recorded in Nchelenge were four cases have been identified.
And Ms. MASEBO says nine new cases of Cholera have been recorded in the five districts in the last 24 hours.
She however says the risks for cholera remain the same which is consumption of contaminated food and water.
The Minister has urged people to take all necessary preventive measures such as drinking boiled or chlorinated water and washing hands with safe water and eating warm food.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Ms. MASEBO urged people to maintain personal hygiene and clean their environments while advising against shaking hands.
She added that government has also put in place various measures to curb the spread of the disease and other diseases of public concern.
Meanwhile, Ms MASEBO has revealed that the measles campaign which took place in Pemba, Sinazongwe and Kafue among others was successful.
