Google plans to upgrade search with AI chat, video clips- WSJ

(Reuters)-According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Google is planning to upgrade its search engine with more AI technology. The company hopes to make the service more “visual, snackable, personal, and human,” with a particular focus on attracting younger users around the world. This shift will involve moving away from the traditional “10 blue links” format of presenting search results and incorporating more human voices.

Google plans to debut these changes at its annual I/O developer conference. The event is expected to feature new features that allow users to have conversations with an AI program, which has been given the codename “Magi.” The company hopes that these changes will make the search engine more personalized and engaging for users.

Generative AI has become a buzzword in the technology industry this year, with many companies rushing to launch similar products. Google’s move to incorporate more AI into its search engine highlights the potential for this technology to disrupt business and society more broadly. However, the company has not yet responded to requests for comment on the Wall Street Journal report.
