Airtel Spurs 100 CB residents to get Covid jab

By BRIAN HATYOKA

More than 100 people receive the Corona Virus (Covid-19) vaccine in Kitwe and Ndola at the weekend when Airtel Zambia staff joined the Copperbelt health provincial office to sensitize residents on the pandemic

Airtel Zambia staff in Kitwe and Ndola alongside the provincial health team distributed fliers about COVID-19 as well as spoke to bus operators and marketers on the need to observe the health measures.

This is according to a statement issued yesterday by Airtel Zambia head of corporate communications Yuyo Nachali-Kambikambi.

Commenting on the awareness exercise, Airtel managing Director Apporva Mehrotra said it was pleasing to note that more than 100 people got vaccinated on the spot as a result of the awareness drive.

Mr. Mehrotra said it was everyone’s duty and responsibility to be a brother or sister’s keeper.

“This is why Airtel decided to liaise with the ministry of Health, the Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNHPI) and the US Aid funded John Snow Institute (JSI) to print more than 10,000 informational fliers about COVID-19 for distribution to the drivers as well as the marketeers, “ he said.

Mr. Mehrotra said Airtel recognized that Zambia, like the rest of the world, had faced and continued to encounter unprecedented challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are delighted to support the drive undertaken by the ministry of Health to vaccinate two million people by the year end and will continue to work with the like-minded stakeholders to create awareness about the benefits of CCOVID-19 vaccination, “ Mr Mehrotra said.
