In an ambitious push to achieve the target of 3 million tonnes of copper production and to capitalize on critical minerals, Zambia’s government ministers have embarked on a significant tour of the North Western Province’s major mining projects.
This four-day program, scheduled from November 15th to November 18th, 2024, will spotlight the nation’s mining potential and commitment to sustainable mineral exploitation.
Key Highlights of the Tour:
According to a programme released by the North Western Provincial administration ahead of the Ministers’ tour, Day 1 (Nov 15th): Tour of Kansanshi Mine by FQM, including a debrief and lunch hosted by the mine.
Day 2 (Nov 16th): Visits to Barrick Lumwana and FQM Trident mines, showcasing Zambia’s mining strength in Kalumbila District.
Day 3 (Nov 17th): The historic official opening of Kansenseli Gold Mine in Mwinilunga District.
Day 4 (Nov 18th): Culminates with the official opening of Kalengwa Mine in Mufumbwe District.
This strategic tour underscores the government’s vision to harness mineral resources for economic growth, job creation, and improved local livelihoods.
