Japanese embassy hands over medical masks, suits to Levy Hospital

The embassy of Japan in Zambia has handed over more than 5,000 medical masks and 2,000 medical productive suits to the Levy Mwanawasa Teaching Hopsital (LMTH) in Lusaka.

Embassy of Japan second secretary public relations and culture section Matsuura Kenji said that the medical goods were donated by Asahi City.

“The medical goods were donated by Asahi City Chiba pressure in Japan, a host town for the Zambian Olympic contingent to Tokyo 2020 games. The Zambian Olympic delegation was to hold a pre-camp in the city, but this has been canceled due to Covid-19 conserns, “ he said.

Mr. Kenji said in a statement that in view of the seriousness of the situation in Zambia and the availability of medical supplies, Asahi through the embassy of Japan sent the medical goods to medical personnel in the country to help fight the effects of of the Corona virus infections.

He said that the donation had been received by Professor John Musuku, the hospital’s senior medical superintendent who expressed gratitude for the donation.

Mr. Kenji added that thye donation should be utilized effectively to help prevent the effects of the fourth wave of COVID-19.
