Barrick Calls for Usage of its Established Platform for Procurement Information Sharing

Barrick-Lumwana Mining Ltd management has urged the business community in North-Western Province to embrace its newly established platform meant to provide information on its procurement system.

Barrick-Lumwana Sustainability Manager, Christopher Mukala, disclosed in a community meeting of suppliers held at Royal Solwezi Hotel in Solwezi Thursday that the company is ready to provide information to interested business entrepreneurs on its procurement system through the new platform.

Mr Mukala said the platform has been formed to streamline the company’s procurement system with the expectations of all business stakeholders to understand the truth about the system as a way of getting rid of the misinformation and mystery currently prevailing around the local procurement.

“This is the platform for engagement for our businesses to showcase themselves so that we understand them and they understand us in terms of our business approach,” said Mr Mukala.

He said the fora on procurement information sharing would be held on a quarterly basis for the company to be able to explain what Barrick–Lumwana is doing with an object of removing misinformation completely.

The meeting was attended by more than 30 business establishments which interacted with the Barrick team consisting Oliva Mwila the supply Chain manager, Gehane Ntaimo the Community relations coordinator, other Barrick senior officers and business partners which included Kalonga Logistics Ltd and Jacaranda hub.
