Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema has arrived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to participate in a high-level Joint Summit between the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), as regional leaders intensify efforts to address the escalating conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The summit, scheduled for today, is expected to focus on regional cooperation in tackling security challenges in Eastern DRC, where violence has displaced thousands and continues to threaten stability.
The meeting underscores the commitment of both regional blocs to finding sustainable solutions through dialogue, diplomacy, and coordinated action.
President Hichilema, a firm advocate of peace and security as pillars of sustainable development, has reiterated that instability in one country poses a risk to the entire region.
His participation in the summit signals Zambia’s active role in fostering regional peace and supporting diplomatic solutions to the DRC crisis.
