The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has recorded export leads worth over $58 million at the Intra African Trade Fair (IATF) 2023 that was held in Cairo, Egypt from from 9th to 15th November, 2023.

And the Agency posted investment leads to a tune of $3.5 million up-scaling Zambia’s participation at the third IATF moving from five companies in 2018 to 25 companies in 2023.

In a statement, ZDA Head Communications and Public Relations Kwali Mfuni said key interests in Zambian products were registered from various African countries including Kenya, Ghana, Egypt, Botswana, Uganda, Malawi, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Togo, Rwanda, South Africa and non-African countries including the USA and Russia.

ZDA Director General Albert Halwampa noted that Africa should trade and invest more with each other if jobs and wealth are to be retained on the continent.

“Products of interest largely included processed and refined foods such as sugar, various teas, kombucha, non-alcoholic beverages, porridge and peanut butter; others were gemstones and handcrafts; technological innovations and energy solutions such as solar and biodiesel. In addition there was investor interest with regard to investment opportunities in the Multi Facility Economic Zones and the country as a whole,” Halwampa said.
